House of Commons--who vote the supplies and check the expenditure--would ever desire, by such a suspension of pension, to drive an old officer, auxions and
proud to serve Government, to leave such service, and seek employment and profit in trade, or under a private firm; a kind of employment in which, I am advised the Treasury could have neither the right nor the power to suspend my
pension.
